Oil leak

I finally found the source of my oil leak. The adapter for the oil filter that fits into the block seems to be leaking. Should be an easy fix. I ordered a billet oil filter plate, hopefully I can patch it up before the picnic Saturday.

New front seat & door panels

The front seat, backseat, and all four door panels are finally in. The front seat will need to be recovered at some point but it’s far better than the interior that was in the car when I bought it.

New backseat & temporary carpet

I got the backseat in and put down some scrap carpet I got from a buddy. TheĀ permanentĀ carpet will be black OEM carpet, but for now this should help keep out some of the heat and give it a more finished look.

New interior

Yesterday I got lucky and found an all original interior set out of a 67 Belvedere II just a few miles from my house. The interior is in really good condition except for a few tears on the front seat, still much better than the interior that was in the car when I bought it.

The new seats and door panels are solid black, which is exactly what I wanted. I scored both seats and all four door panels for $200! I also got a set of steel wheels and two sets of hubcaps, one of which are the Satellite hubcaps with spinners.

Electronic ignition conversion

I tried installing the Accel points eliminator kit but had no luck with it. Sheered off a contact on the coil, luckily John had an extra lying around. Back to the points and condenser for now.

Front brakes are working again

Blead the brakes this morning. I have brakes again! You never realize how important stopping is until you can’t do it!!!

New Master Cylinder

John and I started rebuilding the front brakes today. We got the new pads on and replaced the leaky wheel cylinders with a set I salvaged from Mark but weren’t getting any pressure. I ran up to AutoZone and picked up a new master cylinder. The new master cylinder is in. We still need to bleed the brakes but the pedal already seems a lot stiffer. Never underestimate the value of stopping!!
