When I bought the car there were a pair of headers in the trunk. The guy I bought it from said the guy he got the engine from gave them to him after the engine was already in and they never got around to putting them on. I plan to either repaint them or wrap them with exhaust wrap before putting them on.

I cleaned wire brushed and vacuumed the floorboards then coated the passenger side floorboard with “1″ Step rust killer/neutralizer.

I’ve been slowly gutting the interior over the past few weeks. Currently the only thing left to remove is the front seat and a small piece of carpet underneath it. Once the seat and carpet is out I will start cutting out rust spots and treating it with 1-Step.

 

Once the rust is removed I plan on riveting in a few pieces of sheet metal to hold me over until I can replace the floor pan. I also need to remove the gauge cluster out of the dash so I can replace a few bulbs and figure out why the fuel gauge isn’t working.

Installed New Spark Plugs

I replaced the spark plugs and adjusted the timing today. Mr. Belvedere seemed to be running and idling a lot smoother. Took a trip to the grocery store, Mr. Belvedere is still there.

I’m not seeing any fuel getting into the carburetor and there isn’t any fuel coming out of the fuel line that feeds the carburetor. I bought a new fuel pump last night, going to try putting it on after work today.

Still Having Trouble Starting

The new starter seemed to do the trick for a while. Had a little trouble starting again the other day and died at a stop light. Adjusted the carb and the timing, seems to be running a bit smoother now.

Replaced the starter today, Mr. Belvedere starts like a champ and is back on the road again. I’ve had trouble starting the car off and on since I bought it. Hopefully the new starter will solve the problem.
