Almost every website on the Internet that allows you to create a profile gives you the option of uploading an avatar. The guys at Automattic came up with the brilliant (and simple) idea of creating a single source for these avatars.

Once you create an account you can upload images to be used as avatars and associate them with individual email addresses. Website owners can then utilize Gravatars API to display your avatar on their site as long as they have your email address.

While there is limited support for Gravatar among social networking sites I truly hope support grows soon. Hey Google, Facebook, and MySpace, either support Gravatar or offer a better solution!

Jordan Crawford Dunks On LeBron James

Here’s the much-ballyhooed, previously-confiscated and newly-leaked video of Detroit native Jordan Crawford dunking on NBA MVP LeBron James during a pickup game in the NBA superstar’s basketball camp.

You may remember, word of this dunk trickled out, but the kicker was that Nike, one of James’ major sponsors, helped collect the videos of the dunk.

Somehow, several Web sites, including ebaumnation.com, have proof that the Detroit CMA standout and current Xavier guard did throw one down on King James.

Beastie Boys cancel ACL appearance

Shortly after Monday’s release of the official Austin City Limits Music Festival schedule, the Beastie Boys, who were set to headline the festival, announced they would cancel.

The Beastie Boys announced they would cancel all of their tour dates in a video released on their Web site.

Singer Adam Yauch said he was diagnosed last week with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid, or salivary gland.

Luckily, the tumor was caught early and has been localized in one area. The tumor is considered treatable. He said doctors told him it would not affect his voice.

The ACL Music Festival takes place Oct. 2-4 at Zilker Park.

organized time and performer chart in 15-minute increments.
